Happy Mother's Day to Me....

And to Sweetgrass, who gave birth to her first foal Saturday morning. It's a boy. It's gray for now, but we're hoping he'll turn out to be a blue roan like his daddy. So rather than breakfast in bed or baskets of flowers, I spent my Sunday enjoying spectacularly gorgeous weather and watching our new little man test out those stilts.

Good times. And his Mama is rightly proud.

He is very handsome! Five's legs look a little like that-long and bony. It sounds like the perfect day!

The wild horses sniff the neighbor's hair. I think they wonder why it isn't more like a mane.

Holy cow, Sadie! Has it really been that long since you were here as an intern?

WC: I finally got to touch him today! He's cranky. Tried to kick me, even.

Darlene: Horses really like the smell of some shampoos, especially the fruity ones. So do bees.
